Working With Spirit
We are not alone in the energetic landscape. Just as our physical bodies exist within a much larger world, our individual energetic fields exist within something larger as well.
Throughout my years of working with energy, I have come to understand consciousness as existing in many forms and at many levels. Some are expressed through physical life. Others are not. I use the word spirit as a simple way of describing these nonphysical levels of consciousness. Within them are beings I refer to as guides.
I don't think of guides as mysterious figures controlling our lives or telling us what to do. The word guide means much the same to me spiritually as it does in ordinary life: someone who helps us find our way.
The guidance and support we need also change throughout our lives. The needs of a child are different from those of a young adult, a parent, a teacher, or someone approaching the later years of life. As we change, the nature of the support available to us can change as well.
For me, working with spirit has also become part of working with energy. Energy does not originate with me. I participate in its movement. During meditation and energy work, particularly when working with groups, I experience other levels of consciousness assisting in that process, helping to move and distribute energy where it is needed. This is something I have experienced over many years rather than something I expect another person simply to believe.
Working with spirit does not require giving away your judgment, your choices, or your individuality. It is an expansion of awareness, the recognition that the consciousness we experience as human beings may be part of something much larger, more expansive and unending.
We remain fully human, fully responsible for our own lives, while learning that we do not necessarily travel through them alone.
